Third Cassette

[voice || begin recording]
Diane, have been busy. Moved in with an Ianto Jones and some friends of his. He is a likable man and makes the finest cup of coffee I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Needless to say this bodes extremely well.

The fact that a few days prior this city was overrun by strange creatures and what I believe to have been Godzilla's twin brother does not bode so well. Curses, the citizens have called them. I've been having very strange dreams, some of them related to these curses, but they are so strange I've had no luck in deciphering them beforehand. More on that some other time, Diane.

 My hopes of returning have neither decreased nor increased - people return sometimes, but there's no road back. It happens or it doesn't. No magic click of the heels to send you spiraling back to Auntie Em. So I hope you won't think badly of me if I no longer concern myself with the question. I will do what I can with the time that I have. It is not unlike my ideal of the Himalayas, living only in and for the moment.

Maybe you'll get these tapes some day Diane, and maybe you won't.

Black as midnight on a moonless night

Second Cassette

[voice || begin recording]
 Diane, next time I decide to engage in interdimensional travel, please remind me to bring along a thermos of coffee from the office. I have been in this city for approximately six days, three hours and it seems I will be remaining here for an indeterminable further length of time. I realize you will be unable to receive these recordings, but I hope you will not mind that I continue to address them to you even if it is clear that I am actually talking to myself. The knowledge that someone of your insight is there listening is highly comforting.

 Residents unusual and occasionally hostile. Yesterday, several of my acquaintances transformed into children. Today they are again full sized. Those are the facts.

 Diane, as you may well imagine I have experienced little besides confusion since my arrival. Nevertheless, the time I have spent here so far has not been unpleasant.

I am in need of both employment and living arrangements. Despite appearances of lawlessness, I have been told by several reliable sources that a police force does indeed exist here. If possible, I would like to join it.

Additionally, to anyone would be open to the prospect of co-habitation: I am neat, clean shaven, shower regularly, and enjoy rising early to the smell of black coffee.

This is a damn fine cup of coffee

First Cassette

[voice || begin recording]

Diane, it's 2:45 PM, location unknown, on the afternoon of what I believe to be March 5th.

Diane, as you well know, the process of healing depends as much on clear, focused thought as it does on a good, stiff antibiotic. In the highest region of the Himalayas, the Tibetan people have been known to heal themselves using only the power of the mind. Nevertheless, you will recall that I was shot during my recent stay at the Great Northern Hotel. It remains unclear why gunshot wounds, delivered squarely to the torso, would disappear after a single night's rest, with or without the mind's extraordinary regenerative powers.

I believe it would be safe to say that I find this situation in general to be extremely troubling. Extremely troubling.

I will get back to you later today with an updated address so that you might forward to me the ear-pillow ear plugs I requested. Purely as a precautionary measure. The inhabitants of this place have been making cryptic references to "the distant sound of music". I do not have reason to suspect that the Icelanders have made this journey alongside me, but one can never be too careful.
